Pharmacy news

27-11-2018

December is only days away, and Christmas catch-ups and end-of-year celebrations can be fun, thereโ€™s no doubt it can be stressful too.

Give yourself some downtime with essential oils, which can be burnt in a vaporiser or oil burner, or even mixed in a carrier oil and used in massage.

Different oils can be used, depending on your mood.

Always follow the directions when using essential oils. Check with a health professional if pregnant.

Here is Pete Tzimos, Managing Partner at Eden Rise Pharmacy, with one of our favourite customers, Millsy.

Millsy is one of those guys that makes everyone smile. Always friendly, always has a great story to tell.

We feel genuinely privileged that we get to speak to people, hear their stories, and in a small way, become part of their lives.

Big thanks to Millsy and all our other customers, who make our job, and our day, that little bit better.

Return your unwanted medicines to Eden Rise Pharmacy

Return your unwanted medicines to Eden Rise Pharmacy

Our pharmacy services

Are you spring cleaning or doing a KonMari clean? Do you have any expired or unwanted medicines at home? Our pharmacists and the rest of our team want you to bring them in!

You can return any unwanted or expired medicines to us. We will organise safe disposal, at no charge, as part of the RUM Project (Return of Unwanted Medicines), funded by the Commonwealth Government.

In the 2017-18 financial year, pharmacists around Australia collected over 800,000 kg of unwanted medicines.

Some facts about expired and unwanted medicines:
๐Ÿ’Š It can be dangerous to keep expired or unwanted medicines in the house.
๐Ÿ’Š Children, pets or even adults might accidentally take medicines not intended for them.
๐Ÿ’Š Chemical changes can occur to some out-of-date medicines, making them toxic.
๐Ÿ’Š Putting medicines in the rubbish bin, pouring them down the sink, or flushing them down the toilet can contaminate the environment and affect our waterways.

So give your medicine cabinet a clean out, and bring any unwanted medicines to us for safe disposal. You can learn more here

Dealing with Trauma

Dealing with Trauma

Health & Wellness

It is normal to have strong emotional or physical reactions following a distressing event. On most occasions though, these reactions subside as a part of the bodyโ€™s natural healing and recovery process. There are many things you can do to help cope with and recover from such an experience.

A traumatic experience is any event in life that causes a threat to our safety and potentially places our own life or the lives of others at risk. As a result, a person experiences high levels of emotional, psychological, and physical distress that temporarily disrupts their ability to function normally in day-to-day life.

Examples of potentially traumatic experiences include:

  • natural disasters, such as a bushfire or flood
  • being a victim of, or witness to, a crime, act of violence or armed robbery
  • being involved in, or witnessing, a serious car or transport accident
  • being in an airplane that is forced to make an emergency landing
  • being physically assaulted
  • being exposed to images, news reports or social media posts of these types of events.

Each of their fragrances tells a story, such as The Nuptial Bouquet, based on flowers used in Queen Victoriaโ€™s wedding bouquet. Retro meets contemporary, they call it.

World COPD Day this year is being held on 21 November to raise awareness of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) symptoms, and empower people with COPD to take control of their condition and symptoms through self-management approaches.

One in seven Australians 40 years or older has COPD, however many sufferers do not know they have it and mistake their symptoms as signs of ageing or lack of fitness.

Lung Foundation Australia stresses that early diagnosis through case finding and spirometry is critical in providing early access to treatment, and improving outcomes and quality of life for people living with COPD. Read More >
