Making Caring Easier

Making Caring Easier

Pharmacy news

One of the biggest challenges facing carers is medication management, especially when the need of the person they are caring for are complex. It’s easy to forget or accidentally double up on medicines, especially if you are taking multiple medicines and at different times of the day.

Your community pharmacist is an easily accessible source of help and support and one of the ways your pharmacy can support you is through the use of a Dose Administration Aid (DAA). This can help make taking medicines safer by ensuring the medicines are taken at the right time and in the correct dose. A DAA provides an easy visual cue so that you can see at a glance what has been taken. Unlike a bottle of pills, a DAA cannot be accidentally spilled or changed without it being evident. This makes it easy to monitor medicine compliance. A DAA is also useful if your loved one goes to hospital, providing clear information about what medications are being taken. Read More >

Asthma explained

  • The common symptoms of asthma are wheezing, breathlessness and chest tightness
  • Different triggers bring on asthma symptoms in different people.
  • Asthma can be controlled with regular preventer medication every day (if prescribed) and using a reliever when symptoms flare up.
  • People experiencing asthma-like symptoms for the first time should visit their GP for assessment and advice, and if appropriate, develop an asthma management plan.
  • An asthma attack can threaten life – call triple zero (000) for an ambulance in an emergency and tell the operator that someone is having an asthma attack.
  • Find out more about asthma and its treatment – this will help improve asthma control and help you feel more confident to look after yourself, your child or anyone in your care.
  • A range of programs and services are available to support Australians with asthma.

Asthma is a common disease of the airways – the structures through which air passes when moving from your mouth and nose right down to the smallest structures in your lungs. About one in nine to ten Australians have asthma. It is often associated with other allergic conditions like hay fever and eczema. Read More >

World Pharmacists day

World Pharmacists day

Our pharmacy services

25-09-2019

It’s World Pharmacists Day, so our pharmacists are celebrating by being at work!

Every single day, our pharmacists do their best to help our patients with their health.
💊Sometimes that means explaining about a new medicine.
💊Sometimes that means dressing a wound.
💊Sometimes that means changing a Medico-Pak for a patient who has just been discharged from hospital with changes to their medicines.
💊Sometimes that means encouraging people to see a doctor.
💊Sometimes that means calling 000 for someone.

Often it means drinking a cold cup of coffee, or shovelling down a super quick lunch, or staying back late. It means working in the evening, and on weekends, and on public holidays.

We are so lucky to have such dedicated, knowledgeable, helpful, passionate, kind and caring pharmacists on our team.

❤️ THANK YOU ❤️
