Health Weeks

Five minutes of meditation seems brief, but pausing to sit quietly with yourself can help to let everything else go, calm your mind, reduce stress and improve your focus for the rest of the day.
Set a reminder to spend five minutes at the same time each day to sit quietly with your thoughts, your breathing or a guided meditation.

The flu (Influenza)

The flu (Influenza)

Health & Wellness

  • Influenza is a viral disease that causes widespread illness every year.
  • Immunising people who are at risk of complications from the flu is the most important way we have to reduce the number of flu infections and deaths.
  • Influenza immunisation is recommended for people in known high-risk groups.
  • People who work or live with people who are at risk of serious complications should also be immunised to avoid spreading the flu.
  • The vaccine cannot give you a dose of flu because it does not contain any live virus.

Influenza (flu) vaccine 2021

Pharmacy news

Vaccination against influenza remains important this year. Vaccination experts recommend influenza vaccination for all people aged 6 months and over. The National Immunisation Program (NIP) funds influenza vaccines for people most at risk.

Influenza vaccines are available from late March 2021

Timing influenza vaccination with COVID-19 vaccination

This year both influenza and COVID-19 vaccines will be available in Australia. It is important to plan your vaccination timing to give the best protection against both of these potentially serious diseases.

It is not recommend to schedule  an influenza vaccine with a COVID-19 vaccine on the same day. An interval of at least 14 days between a dose of influenza vaccine and a dose of COVID-19 vaccine is advised. This 14 day interval is the same for either the Pfizer/BioNTech (Comirnaty) vaccine or the University of Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine.
